Limousine liberalism for Green New Dealers
The latest AOC finds our heroine responding to a report by the New York Post that exposed her rather large and embarrassing carbon footprint that she has left since the days of her campaign for the congressional seat she now occupies.
When questioned about the hypocrisy of her campaign’s heavy use of carbon-spewing gas-fueled automobiles, Cortez replied that she was just, “living in the world.” A world that she wants weaned off its reliance on the automobile and air travel in ten years.
Her bad faith response and dissembling in light of her authoritarian policy pronouncements concerning forcing everyone to give up their automobiles, is classic liberal/progressive “do as I say, not as I do,” sanctimony.
It is akin to all the millionaire movie stars and politicians intoning us that we must not leave large carbon footprints and then flying off to the Cannes Film Festival in gas guzzling private jets.
Despite the depravations that would ensue if her proposals ever became law, one would think that AOC would try and lead by example whenever she had the chance. Instead, when her heavy reliance on automobiles was exposed, she was nonchalant and cavalier, proclaiming, “I also fly and use AC,” she tweeted Saturday night. “Living in the world as it is isn’t an argument against working towards a better future.”
AOC has given new meaning to the word, “limousine liberal.”
